Carleton College men’s soccer 2017 season preview

September 9, 2019

– Well first, it’s been a really productive preseason. We’ve gotten a lot out of the guys, we’ve asked a lot of them. It’s been, the weather’s been terrific, their effort has even been better. After a week and a half of trying to get to know each other and figure out how we want to play and who we want to play, we feel like we’re beginning the process to getting ready for that first game on Friday. Being in the playoffs the past 10 years has been a function of our talent, the function of the hard work of the team, and a function of playing in a really, really difficult league. So we’re really focused this year on trying to get back there, but we know that the competition is really difficult in the conference. Every single game will be difficult. The work we put in now and the effort we put in during the preseason is going to prepare us for those really, really difficult tests that we’ll face throughout September and October and hopefully lead us to an 11th consecutive post season appearance. But we’re just focused on the day-to-day right now. I’ve been very pleased with our group of seniors, especially two captains, Stephen Baisch and Brandon Hilliard. They’ve done a terrific job of introducing the freshmen to what it’s like to be a Carleton soccer player both on and off the field. They really exemplify what we try to build in this program, which is really bright, hard working, motivated young men who excel on the field, but more importantly excel in the classroom. – [Captain] Knights on three. One, two, three. – [All] Knights. (mechanical sounds)
