YOU HA KOLANOS AGAINST ROSA. THEY HAVE THEM OUT AGAINST PELLETIER AND PINEAULT. THEY’VE BEEN WINNING THE BATTLES.>>Joe: HERE’S JOHN SCOTT IN HIS OWN END. ROCKFORD GETTING A CHANGE BEHIND THE PLAY. NOW WE HAVE A FIGHT AWAY FROM ACTION. BERTRAM AND MITCH LOVE. LOVE CAME WITH A COUPLE OF BIG RIGHTS. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT HIGH HIT HE TOOK. LOVE, COUPLE OF RIGHTS. BERTRAM DOWN ON THE ICE GOES BERTRAM AFTER A RIGHT BY LOVE. THEY WERE THROWING THEM BOMBS AWAY AND MITCH LOVE WITH HIS 20 25th FIGHT OF THE YEAR, TRYING TO GET A LITTLE PAYBACK FOR THE SHOT BY TIM BRENT EARLIER IN THE FRAME.>>Bart: GOOD JOB FIRING UP THE CROWD BY MITCH LOVE. DAN PER DURHAM, BOSTON COLLEGE NATIONAL CHAMPION, A SECOND ROUND PICK OF THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS. A GUY WHO ONLY HAS 51 PENALTY MINUTES. VERY GOOD PLAYER. HE’S A PLUS FOUR. FOUR GOIL GOALS, FOUR ASSISTS, EIGHT POINTS SO ■AR. MITCH LOVE, FIRING UP HIS CLUB.>>Joe: UNDER NINE TO GO IN THE THIRD. AGAIN, WE STEP ASIDE.>>Rob: WE’VE FOR THE SOMETHING GOING VERY QUICKLY AS LATTA IS READY TO GO MIXING UP WITH IMAGE GROW. — MAGGIO. WE SAW THIS ONE STARTING TO TAKE PLACE AND THE PUCK MOVED DOWN TOWARDS THE GUELPH END AND ONCE THEY GOT INTO THE NEUTRAL ZONE, BOTH LATTA AND IMAGE YAO FIGURED THEY WOULD GET THINGS OFF. GUELPH OBVIOUSLY LOOKING FOR A LITTLE JUMP AT HOME AND SUDBURY WITH A LOT OF JUMP HERE TO START THIS GAME PLAYING THREE AND LESS THAN THREE. MAGGIO STILL WANTS MORE. THE LINESMEN ARE GOING TO STEP IN HERE. HE WAS A RECIPIENT OF A COUPLE OF SHOTS, BOTH GUYS WILL GO TO THE BOX AND, WELL, WELCOME TO THE HOCKEY GAME.>>Rob: SO THEY LOSE A “D” MAN AND THE OTHER SIDE LOSES A FORWARD. — VALLIQUETTE.>>Rob: 5-1 THE SCORE AS GUELPH ADDS ANOTHER TO THE TOTAL. FIRST GOAL IN THE SECOND PERIOD, AND BECK’S 24th OF THE YEAR. ANOTHER FIGHT GOING ON. LATTA, THIS TIME MIXING UP WITH KURTZ. KURTZ LOSES AN EDGE.>>Sam: I THINK KURTZ WE’VE GOT SELF TONNE WHALING ON A STORM PLAYER. LOOKS LIKE CONNOR IS IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.>>Sam: THE TWO GOT TIED UP AND I THINK HE THOUGHT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A CALL ON IT. SELF TONNE AND■■ YEARS HERE. AND THE ROCK WE USED TO CALL HIM. AND I TELL YOU GREAT KID. AND LOOKING TO SEE THAT HE’S DOING WELL IN THE CHICAGO WOLVES UNIFORM.>>John: SIFERS ON THE PUCK RIGHT NOW AS HE HAS TO GET AWAY FROM ROSEHILL IN THE CORNER. FALLS. MITCHELL BAT IT IS DOWN OUT OF THE AIR. HE’LL GO TO THE BOX AND NOW GETS RIGHT BACK UP AND GIVES MITCHELL A SHOT. IN COMES ROSEHILL. DEVEAUX TAKE AS SWIPE AT KEITH AULIE. AULIE NOW AT DEVEAUX IN THE CORNER AND THE TWO OF THEM MIGHT EVEN DROP THE GLOVES AND DEVEAUX DOES DROP THE GLOVES WITH AULIE. AULIE TRYING TO SWING BACK NOW HE DOES BEHIND THE NET. THESE ARE TWO BIG BOYS HERE. KEITH AULIE AND ANDRE DEVEAUX. BOTH WELL PAST THE 6’0″■ MARKER. AULIE NOW GETS DEVEAUX’S HELMET OFF.>>Bob: THERE WE GO. HE’S GOT THE REACH, TOO. AULIE 6’6″. DEVEAUX 6’5″. BOTH A COUPLE OF BIG BOYS. AND KEITH AULIE, I LIKE THIS OUT OF HIM THAT HE’S GETTING PHYSICAL BIG TIME HERE IN THIS GAME. .>>John: THEY BOTH JUST STOP AS THE LINESMEN GET IN BETWEEN THEM. THAT WAS AN UNUSUAL WAY TO END IT. AND OKAY WE’RE DONE.>>Bob: THIS WHOLE SITUATION STARTS WITH JAMIE SIFERS IN THE CORNER. AND IT’S GOING TO BE MITCHELL WHO PICKS UP THAT LOOSE PUCK. SIFERS WITH THAT PUSH FROM BEHIND. AND HE TAKES EXCEPTION TO MITCHELL GOING DOWN AND GIVES HIM AN EXTRA SHOT RIGHT THERE. BUT EXCUSE ME, AULIE AND DEVEAUX START MIXING IT UP BEFORE THEY GET TO THAT SITUATION RIGHT THERE. AND A LITTLE FACE WASH BY AULIE. DEVEAUX GETS THE GLOVES OFF FIRST AS HE STARTS SWINGING AWAY AND AULIE KNOWS HE DOESN’T WANT TO HIT THAT SHIELD. AND A GOOD JOB BY THE YOUNGSTER KEITH AUL SHOWING THAT PHYSICAL PRESENCE THAT HE, YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT. HE IS THE BIG MA. GOOD DEFENSIVE DEFERENCEMAN. WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM PLAY■>>Paul: HAVE YOU EVER EVOLVED AS A HOCKEY PLAYER? I REMEMBER YOU COMING FROM FOR FOLK, 275 PENALTY MINUTES THAT ONE SEASON. NOW YOUR PENALTY MINUTES ARE DOWN YOUR OFFENCE IS UP AND YOU’VE TURNED INTO A SKATER BODY CHECKER. HOW LONG HAS THIS PROCESS BEEN GOING ON FOR YOU AS A HOCKEY PLAYER?>>DON’T THINK IT EVER REALLY STOPPED. I STARTED OFF PLAYING PROFESSIONAL AS A “D” MAN. AND THEN WHEN I SWITCHED TO FORWARD IT WAS A SPUR OF THE MOMENT THING. I KIND OF ENDED UP FIGHTING A LOT. HI SOME COACHES THAT DIDN’T GIVE ME A LOT OF ICE TIME OR OPPORTUNITY. SINCE I’VE BEEN COMING TO TORONTO HERE AND HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY AND THE COACHES THAT HAVE TRIED TO DEVELOP ME IT’S BEEN GOING WELL.>>Paul: IT’S A GOOD BALANCE NOW. YOU WERE KNOWN AS A FIGHTER. BUT NOW YOU’VE TURNED INTO A BALANCED HOCKEY PLAYER. AND THIS LOOKS LIKE A PRETTY GOOD CARD TO THE NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE. BECAUSE TEAMS ARE LOOKING FOR PLAYERS LIKE YOURSELF.>>YEAH, I THINK SO. I THINK I’VE ALWAYS HAD MORE TO OFFER THAN JUST THE FIGHTING PART. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME NOT TO GO OUT THERE LOOKING FOR THE FIGHT AND TO DO OTHER THINGS. I THINK IF I DO THAT WELL THE FIGHTS MAY COME TO ME AND THAT’S FINE, TOO. BUT IT’S NICE TO HAVER 0 PARTS OF THE GAME TO FOCUS ON.>>Paul: RON AND DALLAS HAVE BOTH CALLED ON HIGH ENERGY FROM YOU. YOU’VE DELIVERED IN THAT REGARD. HOW IMPORTANT IS YOUR ABILITY AS A SKATER IN TERMS OF DEVELOPING THAT AND GETTING IN ON THE FORECHECK?>>Paul: YEAH, IT’S DEFINITELY IMPORTANT. YOU KNOW, YOU GOT TO HAVE YOUR LEGS MOVING AND IN ORDER TO GET ON THE FORECHECK AND FINISH THOSE CHECKS AND TRACK THOSE GUYS DOWN ESPECIALLY IN THE NHL. YOU’VE GOT TO HAVE YOUR SKATING GOING AND I’VE WORKED WITH GRAHAM TOWNSEND AND I THINK MY SKATING’S GOTTEN BETTER EVERY YEAR AND I HOPE IT CONTINUES.>>Paul: TELL ME ABOUT THE MAGIC WITH YOU AND BOYCE AND GREG SCOTT. WHO’S HURT RIGHT NOW BUT THE THREE OF YOU REALLY HAD IT GOING. PROBABLY THE BEST LINE.>>IT WAS NICE. STARTING EVERY GAME MATCHING AGAINST THEIR TOP LINE AT THE SAME TIME GETTING CHANCES OURSELVES. IT WAS REALLY NICE TO HAVE A LINE THERE THAT WE COULD WORK WITH AND HAVE CONFIDENCE EVERY GAME. I KNEW THAT THEY WERE THERE BESIDE ME AND VICE VERSA TO LEAN ON. IT SEEMS LIKE WE HAD A LOT OF GOOD GAMES TOGETHER AND SOME CHEMISTRY WHICH WAS GREAT TO FIND.>>Paul: SOME GREAT ALBERTA PEOPLE ON THIS TORONTO MAPLE LEAF TEAM. NOW YOU ARE THE LATEST ADDITION. TELL US ABOUT OLDS, ALBERTA, WHERE IT IS AND WHAT LIFE WAS LIKE FOR YOU GROWING UP AS A YOUNG MAN.>>OLDS, IT’S ABOUT 7,000 PEOPLE, I THINK NOW. IT’S JUST AN HOUR NORTH OF CALGARY. AND IT’S A NICE TOWN. I PLAN ON SPENDING MY DAYS THERE WHEN I’M DONE PLAYING HOCKEY. AND RAISING A FAMILY THERE. IT’S A GOOD COMMUNITY. YOU KNOW, I GREW UP THERE, RAISED ON A RANCH AND KIND OF HAD A CATTLE FAMILY. HAD HAD THE CATTLE AND THE HORSES GROWING UP AND THE FAMILY WAS AUCTIONEERS AND MY BROTHER’S INTO THAT NOW. IT WAS NICE TO GROW UP THERE. I MISS IT. AND IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO GO BACK THERE.>>Paul: TALK ABOUT THE EVOLUTION AS A HOCKEY PLAYER. NOW AWAY FROM THE ICE.
