May 15: NHL playoffs overtime, Derek Jeter’s number retired

August 24, 2019

“Here’s a chance for Bobby Ryan. Trying to pull away. Ryan by himself. He scores” We could be watching history in the Stanley
Cup playoffs, and that is why they are kicking off our Monday
Moments The conference finals began this weekend, and once again 60 minutes of hockey wasn’t enough. Both the Predators and the Senators needed
overtime to win game-one of their series. Bringing the overall total of overtime games
in the playoffs to 25. That’s just 3 off the record set in 1993. There is plenty of hockey left, so that record
is in jeopardy. At the second Diamond League stop in Shanghai,
Canadian Shawn Barber finished third in the pole vault after clearing a season’s best
5.60 metres. It was a tough day for Olympic and World Champion
Derek Drouin. The Canadian failed to make a clean attempt
in the high jump “Well it wasn’t very good. I no-heighted. First time in my career but there was some
stuff I had to try and work through, it didn’t work out great. I still feel pretty strong physically. Just looking forward to try and make amends
at the next competition. To gymnastics, as Ellie Black was competing
for the first time since the Rio Olympic games at the World Challenge Cup in Slovenia. She won silver medals in the beam, the floor
and uneven bars and narrowly missed out a fourth medal finishing fourth in the vault competition. Through the first 33 games of the season,
Jose Bautista had just 2 home runs. He equaled that total this weekend alone. His 2 homeruns and 5 RBIs helped the Jays
sweep the Mariners to extend their winning streak to 5 games .
It was all capped off by Kevin Pillar’s walkoff home run on Sunday. And before we go, Derek Jeter, “The Captain”
had his number-2 retired by the New York Yankees. No Yankee will ever wear that number again, or
will they? When you play for the Yankees can you wear
my number 2? Nope. How do you say no to your nephew wanting to
wear your number? Did I miss anything, comment below. And remember, click that subscribe button
