NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs: Round 1 Betting Preview and Picks (4.17.17)

August 24, 2019

Before I get into my picks and analysis for tonight’s NHL playoff games, I have some disturbing news. If you’ve been following our NHL betting coverage you’ve probably grown accustomed to seeing a young man named Rob Trites presenting these videos. It’s come to my attention that Rob has gone missing and I have reason to suspect that foul play is involved. We are running a business here though so the show must go on. Rob if you’re watching you will be docked a days pay for each day that you remain missing and to your captors I am not willing to negotiate for Rob’s return. I am however willing to provide you with my four best picks for tonight’s NHL action. Starting things off in Beantown where the Senators open as the biggest underdogs of the day at +151. This has been a bad spot for them as they’re just 1-5 in their last six games as a road underdog. Digging deep into some Bruins numbers, they’re 13-2 in their last 15 home games after losing their two most recent home games, something they did to close out the regular season. All the trends align here and I like Boston to take a 2-1 series lead tonight. Moving on to Toronto where Leafs fans are buzzing after their overtime win in game two. My advice to Leafs Nation, settle down damn it. The Caps haven’t lost consecutive games in over a month and closed out the regular season going five and one as a road favorite. I like Washington to win and recommend taking them in regulation which comes in at around even money. Next up we’re in Music City and we take a look at a league-wide trend that’s seen the over hit a measly thirty-three percent of the time in the playoffs so far. This isn’t sustainable and with the total of five goals I’ll be betting the over. The Blackhawks have seen the under hit in just 17 percent of their road games since the start of February while the Predators have gone over in 10 of their last 15 at home, making the over an easy money bet tonight. We’re going to wrap things up in Cowtown and this is just getting pathetic as the Flames are brutal 3-18 in their last 21 games against the Ducks. Anaheim has already won 4 games vs Calgary this month but the games have been tight with three of them being decided by one goal. With that said, my lock of the night is the Ducks on the +1.5 puckline. Look to parlay that with some of your other wagers tonight. That’s it for my look at tonight’s NHL action, enjoy the games. Rob if you’re watching, come home safe and as always keep chasing that paper.
