Wing Chun Vs Boxing REAL Sparring **NO KICKS**

November 19, 2019

hello philosophers and welcome to the
Wing Chun Wednesday Season Finale Wing Chun vs. boxing sparring butts with only
hands so stay tuned the rules are simple it’s pretty much
just wing chun and a boxing match so that means no feet no elbows we’re going
to be doing 390 second rounds I’m gonna try to use as much a strict Wing Chun as
I can I have a fencing background as well so since the Wing Chun stance is
designed to stop kicks I’m probably going to use a little bit more fencing
footwork I’ll try and pull off some chain punches for you guys I started
doing see lot in 2003 and when I came to the city I started boxing I’ve got a
coach box with Scott great coach following I’m happy to be able to help
what I know the test and do low smart mobility guys just say you know we are
not professional fighters the point of this video is to encourage you to get
out there and train have fun and hopefully you learned something from
this awesome experiment sparring is a conversation not pin partner this is not
to see which part is better but to better both arts and ourselves all right
it’s time for round one post your commentary below and subscribe
to see future sparring and fight scenes let’s go one minute oh that’s what I’m talking about guys
really having fun in here P now there’s one sweet shot that was so square how
can you have a couple locking me up because I’m I fight Orthodox and he was
just like yeah my leg and the jab hands somehow and I was like dude I think yeah
I think I had two so it’s just our body it’s so what I’m trying to do is go in
and out but like say and as long as I can I was like weed stuff like this and
then like in like crank that I can’t do that so I’m trying just like deuce do
what I can but the gloves are so big to you
I try to do change bonds I don’t know that trying to do it for you guys it’s
this it has to be like I would like that and you nailed me I have to be legit so
right round now you know I had him up drop it you swung block so I think we’re
gonna get back in there and do it and do it let us know in the comments again
guys um we want to know what you’re noticing but it’s really interesting
experiment because again without the legs it’s almost like if the jab of Wing
Chun is like this yeah steai if you’re noticed like I always tell me with a
kick kneecap and obviously guys were holding back you can see like a couple
hits I’m sure he would knock me out I was gonna say yeah I think you get
matchup but having a lot of fun anybody who actually practices kid like
understand like that how this is like a really beneficial exercise it’s funny
with your friends and stuff so so it’s good for both of us also shadow at the
jar she’s gonna be helping us film today we want to thank GRE for filming she’s
amazing make her check out her Instagram page she’s met cool all right let’s get
back in there let us know what you think in the comments
three two one action okay one minute yeah all right so another amazing round
Aldonza de rigueur like movement was amazing because like a lot of times my
kids were like moving up and down you know so I want to do something that like
totally not loud which is like I try to like get in super close but it’s good
because he’s capitalizing on it so it’s a very cool exercise I’ve been joined
and I live on deploy this is see like what if I only had him because I mean to
be fair he’s as weirded out a dime so I’m breaking probably every rule in the
book as far as energy wise like we expelled a
lot in the beginning and then ultimately sound like a good middle ground we’re
never working on a deed and there’s a lot of slipping weaving through nurse
but I did a lot of box out probably the least lucky one I’ve ever use in boxing
I did a lot of this turn the shell and I just saw it I think it’s having mine
right there but I perfect perfect like bait for a Wing
Chun too because look we did you get this house what I wanted to do of course
was like goo whose heads open and then guess what totally exposed
alright so we’re gonna do one more round it’s gonna be epic guys again let us
know what you think like if you see weaknesses places where we can improve
and of course like how is Wing Chun look without legs because I’m really curious
myself I can’t wait to watch this let’s get back in there stay tuned guys ready
and three one go one minute lately I’m getting holy that was an
amazing last round guys like yeah what guy all the way like that he just
came down on me dude there’s like all the classic boxing skills because I
actually did this to you and then one for the hit and he’s flipped out did a
couple times like one point he hit me or like a three-room combo my headgear got
messed up I push it up only to see him like right there less tired every round
more energy control yeah I don’t think it speaks to our conditioning it just
speaks to a like car find somebody you can train knows where you’re gonna get
better not worse also I think there’s a lot of style adaptation because we’re
doing like Musashi don’t do anything of no use hope it was helpful to you guys
as we said what you guys took away from this and maybe like some suggestions
like if you saw the Gugu I noticed that Wing Chun every time it goes in Xyz you
know boxing in this range is that we want to hear some analysis so you guys
can use it help each other out and we can both work – yeah we’re gonna do a
lot more of this in the future as well so I’ve lived with Phillip for so long I
started this channel I keep it going and so it’s an honor for me to be in his
videos and he’s got high standards for the type of content puts out for you
guys he genuinely cares about the martial arts and like the gaming that he
does and you know it’s anti-bullying message and everything like that so I
just want to say thank you fell for all the hard work and I know I speak for a
lot of these guys and I say like your videos are inspirational everyone who’s
ever helped out yeah I mean it’s just an amazing show and this is design C great
to be part of it and you know thanks man thank you I tell us in the comments what
you want to see next you want to see more of this do you want to see Wing
Chun vs. another style the message here again is about learning and as you can
see itself friendship get in there have fun guys and keep training
please subscribe there’s more fighting on the way as well as drawing gaming and
fight scenes

Putting on the boxing gloves without the correct stance, footwork, head movement, and techniques don't make you a boxer. The highlight is the "boxer" look away when he got punched.

  • Reply Vishal Desour January 3, 2019 at 9:49 pm

Please everyone. This guy is a fake. He doesn't know wing chun. He's got the basic understanding of someone who's attended 4 classes in his life and watched a few videos on YouTube. You try to fight like him and you will die. This is not wing chun. It's fake "sifu's" like this guy who give wing chun a bad name!! And as for you Phil. I'll be coming to Cali in the summer if you want to test your fake crap vs someone who actually studies applicable wing chun!

  • Reply Paul W January 14, 2019 at 3:53 pm

He couldn't even find an amateur boxer to spar him? What am i watching here?

  • Reply SandaBoxing January 14, 2019 at 8:21 pm

So many idiots thinking that a Boxer should automatically beat a Wing Chun or else he's a shitty Boxer. You fat asses should go to a fight gym and actually train for at least a year and not on some bullshit 10 class Groupon; before making stupid comments. And I personally detest Wing Chun.

  • Reply Dino Sauro January 15, 2019 at 1:24 am

I was a boxer and it does not seem to me that the boxer has a lot of combat experience. Honestly, he is hesitant to hit,
he has a guard and a posture that is completely incorrect and he moves very badly, he is not a good boxer at all.
It is clearly a beginner or one who pretends to be a boxer. I do not even seem to be the same weight but maybe I'm wrong. A realistic experiment would like a comparison between an expert and an expert, not between an expert and an amateur (and in this case, perhaps things would be different). However Wing Chun has always fascinated me, interpreted in the right way and not as commonly seen I do is a good system of combat. But this more than a real test I think only advertising, with a good boxer I think things should be different.

  • Reply Young Warrior January 16, 2019 at 11:32 am

I think your wing chun technique is really good. The boxer has good movement but a tendency to bring the arms out instead of keeping them in tight. But experience and practice will change that. On the whole, great video!

  • Reply scheisstag January 22, 2019 at 4:33 pm

As in all other clips, in which a guy dares to pressure test his Wing Chun, his Wing Chun looks like sloppy boxing. You even need some couple of seconds to realise, who is supposed to be the Wing Chun guy. There are in fact techniques to block, deflect and catch punches in boxing. None of the chain punches through the centerline connects. They just do not have enough reach, since the shoulder is not enough involved. And they are easy to evade/block, since there is no hook and sidestep in classical Wing Chun. This means the the angle of attack is always the same. And you can see, the Wing Chun guy is able to connect, but his punching movement is more a push. The other guy has more power in his punches.

  • Reply Forever Family January 23, 2019 at 5:48 am

A lot of people says he’s trash but idk it kinda hard to tell cause most people you see who use wing chun against boxers are out weighed by the boxer an it’s different here because their the seem to be in same weight class so it pretty even fight

hey guys. The first thing I see is that the bóxer has problems to fight with someone with a southpaw guard. And the second one is that the bóxer is not launching punches to the body. And you are telegraphing your shoots and almost all the time are out of range. But good for you, it's quite evident that you enjoyed the experiment!!!

The boxer seem untrained to me. This was the sloppiest looking spar I've ever seen.

  • Reply Michael Hendricks March 22, 2019 at 6:41 pm

    What I see;

Boxer guy is a beginner he says “I have a coach” either his coach sucks or he hasn’t been training in boxing very long. It also appears that he has training in a traditional martial art maybe TKD because his hand positioning isn’t boxing. His guard is down, and wide, which leaves him open he will get hit. I know because this is a problem I personally dealt with. He drops his guard when he punches. His hooks are loopy. Neither one of you knows your range. He doesn’t throw combinations. His “south paw” is more like shoving his right side at you without technique and hoping that works.

Your Wing Chun is out of range because of the rotational angle you have your arms at. You’d have hit the guy more effectively had you punched more ergonomically.

Both of you drop your hands too much. It’s obvious you’ve done your wing chun thing for a while, it also doesn’t seem like sparing and dynamic resistance is something you’ve done a lot of at this time. A lot of the punches you slow mowed wouldn’t be effective simply because you’re out of range, touching your opponent is not the same as striking them.

I’m glad you’re willing to get out there and test your art.

Also as an aside you say “kicking is like the jab in Wing Chun” and demonstrate a weird looking (from my POV) front kick. And you say “knee cap”. It’s actually really hard to break someone’s knee with that kind of kick or even a side kick. Which is why you don’t see this more in MMA, kicking the knees is perfectly legal, and not done because it’s ineffective.

Inb4 someone artistically screeches “in da streetz” in regards to MMA and it being a sport. If you can’t land these techniques in MMA you’re not landing them “in the streets” either.

  • Reply reckless4tee April 1, 2019 at 3:44 am

This dude is not a boxer at all. This looks like his first fight ever. No foot work, keeping his arms out after a punch trying to reach his opponents face. That a noob move for a non experience fighter.

  • Reply gerbullo crolello April 3, 2019 at 8:07 pm

I am so fucking tired of the traditional martial arts bashing. For some reason, if TMA guys suck it is representative of the whole system, but if they do OK or even well then the opponent is not a "real" XYZ, in this case "Boxer". Its funny how actual MMA dudes dont generally look down on TMA practitioners, yet the keyboard warriors around here " know" that MMA ( or the combat Sport of their liking ) is the only thing that works. By the way boxing is fun and produces many good athletes, but in a real fight i would pick wing tsung any day. Big respect for the two guys here, other than most ppl watching they are doing stuff.

  • Reply Ego Geo May 11, 2019 at 8:28 am

Why remove tools from one fighter instead of adding tools to the orher fighter? the more tools a fighter can use, the more versitele fighter he can be.

  • Reply Ballistic ballista May 11, 2019 at 8:45 pm

Very light sparring, neither fighter used anything close to full potential you cant base skill off of sparring like this.

  • Reply Paolo Moretti May 13, 2019 at 9:34 pm

This is how crooks cheat on ignorant people. Fake boxers, fake weapons, fake assaulters, fake opponents. If wing chun would work against boxing, any wing chun master could be a millionaire world champion boxer instead of struggling his way to the end of the month teaching this shit in a dirty, stinky gym.

you on the other hand obviously have experience in what you are doing .
if you would like to do another video i can provide you with a very experienced AMETEURE boxer and you can showcase your stuff with a legitimate boxer vs kung fu title and you can also use your legs .

  • Reply Anti Hate May 27, 2019 at 6:20 am

The biggest mistake in wing chun, is people thinking they can chain punch their way through a fight. There is not real effective power behind a chain punch, this is a fact. A boxer would knock you out. I trained wing chun for years, but now train Muay Thai after seeing the error of my ways. Some wing chun applications do work, but not the way it is usually taught.

not knocking the art but lets be honest this boxer isnt much of a boxer. the reason why u don't see boxers go overboard with parries is because when u face a guy like say Pacquiao who has an in & out style, once he recognizes your pattern of parries he will feint and then shoot in with his shot which is where over parrying is flawed

These pitty pat wing chun love taps aren't going to do anything to anyone. You can throw 20 arm punches to the face, but get hit by a boxer's even half decent jab with shoulder, lats and leg behind it and the fight is all but over.

  • Reply Valentino G August 24, 2019 at 3:59 pm

Have to agree with the others. Either the boxer has only recently gotten into the sport, he is unnerved by fighting against a style he hasn't seen before, or he was just purposely going easy and not using all of his tools in order to draw the video out and make it look more competitive. Idk, but I was expecting more aggression on the part of the boxer.

The boxer need to learn how not to reach. Let them come in range side step or angle off and cut. Jab need to be faster. Wing Chun is very effectice but notice how. He said " He will use fencing foot work. So it was not authentic Wing Chun. But it was a good video. It verfies my theory. Wing Chun is good but the footwork has to be change a little bit. In a fight to improve its effectiveness.
